In honour of Les

First time Roughtober participant, Greg Colby, is sleeping rough in memory of his brother Les, who was a much beloved patron of Rough Edges for many years, until his hospitalisation and passing on 13 July this year. Greg lives on the Central Coast but is coming down for the evening to sleep rough with us and honour his brother's life.

IN GREG’s words

Les was a 'roughie' and had found his people and his happy place. Les was a fixture around Darlinghurst and Kings Cross for most of his life. I miss him but am so glad he had somewhere like Rough Edges to go to for meals, for company and to just hang out with people who loved him, understood him and never judged him.

So many people live lives of quiet desperation and loneliness, Les found solace from that experience at Rough Edges.

A year before he died, Les was interviewed for a video we were making to promote Rough Edges. Here is his interview:

You can support Greg's efforts and provide a happy place for people like Les by donating to his fundraising page. Or better still, sign up and join Greg on 27 October to sleep rough and share a meal with our patrons while raising money for Rough Edges.
