Urban Insight

Urban Insight is our social justice education program.

It’s an opportunity for people to experience and explore the issues of urban poverty - homelessness, addiction, mental health, trauma and more - from people who have experienced homelessness themselves.

We run urban walks, school or site visits and workshops on homelessness for school and corporate groups.

URBAN INSIGHT

We have been serving the needs of people experiencing homelessness in Darlinghurst and Kings Cross for almost 30 years.
In that time we have grown in our understanding of the complex needs and issues of an area like Kings Cross.

“Challenging to preconceptions around homelessness”

"It was great to hear stories from Grace.  Real life stories really ground the ideas we learnt about and are very memorable."

“Very interesting”

“Confronting”

“A different perspective”

"I found Andrew's story incredible! It was great and deeply moving."

“Andrew has that special ability to find the humour in the darkest of subjects and held us constantly in a state of awe, sadness and hysterics! The walk proved to not only shine a light on homelessness but also mental health and all the secrecy surrounding it.”

“I think we all appreciated Grace’s candidness around her experiences and her willingness to share – I think this was the most powerful part of the walk for me personally and could have happily asked her many more questions.”

"Moving and fascinating. Really grateful to have such a personal experiences shared with us.  Surprised by history of hostility toward people experiencing homelessness."

"Loved the walk! Tony was open, raw, honest. We saw some sights and experienced the Cross at its best/worst."
