Volunteering for 2024

We love the enthusiasm of people who want to join our program and make your experience the best it can be, while also serving the needs of our patrons. Rough Edges is a social institution where society’s vulnerable have been coming for over 35 years to receive a free meal and participate in a supportive and caring community. Rough Edges can be a challenging place, but highly rewarding. Many of our patrons present with a range of challenging experiences. But at Rough Edges, we aspire to provide a safe and supportive space for them to come and be an active community member.

Volunteers not only feed our patron community, they also connect and engage with them offering an empathetic ear and be a safe non judgemental listener. The positive relationships formed between volunteers and patrons is the backbone of the service.

Please note: we currently only conduct volunteer training twice annually in February and July. As such there may be a wait period between your application and potential onboarding. We appreciate and thank you for your patience.
